The Femern Positioning System experienced unplanned downtime early this morning. We did not provide any VRS corrections today (March 4) between 03:25 and 04:20 local time.
The broadcast of single station corrections (UHF radio) were still available.

FPS: Additional mountpoint - RTCM 3.4 MSM3

In addition to the current mountpoint “VRS_RTCM32”, we have created a new mountpoint called “VRS_V2”. The new mountpoint (VRS_V2) delivers VRS corrections in RTCM 3.4 MSM3.

The default mountpoint (VRS_RTCM32) delivers VRS corrections in RTCM 3.4 MSM5. This remains unchanged. If this has worked well for you in the past, you can just continue to use this mountpoint.
The default mountpoint has not been renamed or changed in any way, since that would require all users to reconfigure their GNSS receivers.

Reference station update, Friday, October 17, 14:00-15:00

On Friday, October 17, between 14:00 and 15:00 local time, we are planning to do a firmware update on the GNSS receivers located the four FEH stations.
The receivers will be updated one by one. This will result in 5-10 minutes downtime for each receiver, and we will not be able to store RINEX data during the update.
The VRS service will not be affected by this operation.

Power outage around Puttgarden

SH Netz (the local energy provider) has notified Femern of an upcoming electrical power outage in the Puttgarden area.
Sunday, September 7 and Sunday, September 14 the power will be out from 07:30 to around 15:30. This will affect the radio broadcast of VRTK2, which will not be available in the two time slots mentioned above.
According to the energy provider, the reference stations on Femern (FEH1, FEH2 and Westermarkelsdorf) will not be affected.
The VRS service of the positioning system will be fully operational during the power outage.

The Danish mobile network provider, TDC, reports problems with both calls and internet connections throughout their network. It does not mean that you cannot connect to the positioning system, but you may have to reconnect more often than usual.

Due to an internal network error we have lost the connection to all four FEH stations. The single station correction broadcast is still fully operational. The VRS service is also operational, but expect a slightly degraded accuracy.
The root cause has been identified, and we are currently working intensely to correct it. New message will follow, when we are back to normal operations.

Cell phone networks in Denmark are troubled

At least one of the major Danish cell phone networks are troubled this afternoon. We can see that some users have been disconnected from the positioning system, but most of them have also reconnected shortly thereafter.
The positioning system itself (VRS and single station broadcast) is not affected at this time.

We are planning to move the VRTK2 broadcast radio from Lolland to Fehmarn on Wednesday (April 17) and Thursday (April 18). This means, that there will be no VRTK2 broadcast during that time.
The VRS service (NTRIP) and the UHF radio broadcast of FEH1-4 and VRTK1 is not affected. They will full operational as usual.

20° elevation mask on VRTK broadcast

Due to limited bandwidth on the radio and an increasing number of available satellites, we need to limit the amount of correction data in the VRTK1 and VRTK2 stream. We will do that by increasing the elevation mask from 10° to 20°. So the VRTK1 and VRTK2 streams broadcasted via radio will only include correction for satellites above 20°.
This will insure a smooth and stable correction stream and provide plenty of correction data at the same time.
The VRS correction stream provided via internet and NTRIP is not changed in any way.
